The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Vice-chair Juliana Cherera’s higher education and professional experience have surfaced.
The commissioner whose job is to deputize the IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati is a holder of five professional certifications which include a masters degree, bachelors degree and other three certifications from reputable institutions.
Cherera holds a Master of Education, Leadership and Educational Management degree from Kenya Methodist University (KEMU).
She is also a holder of a Bachelor of Education (Arts) degree from Kenyatta University, having specialized in Geography and Kiswahili as her teaching subjects.
She additionally took another course in Project Management at Kenya Institute of Management (KIM). Juliana added a course in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) at the Kenya National Examination Council)KNEC) and another one in Strategic Leadership and Development Program at Kenya School of Government (KSG).
Juliana didn’t stop at that She also took a Senior Management Course (SMC) while still at Kenya School of Government (KSG).
However, Juliana Cherera has sparked mixed reactions from Kenyans who noticed a grave error in the figures she gave yesterday while dismissing the presidential election results announced on Monday.
Kenyans took it to social media to criticize her calculations despite her education and vast experience in various sectors.
Cherera has had 18 years of experience in the Education and Management sectors.
She gained much experience as a teacher before moving to Mombasa County Government where she served as a Chief Officer (CO) in the Mombasa County Government at the Strategic Delivery Unit.
Cherera was among the team who, along with counterparts and well-wishers, directed and facilitated the Governor’s charity program named ‘Together For Mombasa’.
Besides being a Member of Mombasa County Emergency Household Relief and Nutrition Support Project Coordination Committee, she also was Secretary to the Mombasa County Economic Recovery and Legacy Strategy.
As per her resume, Cherera additionally holds enrollment at the of Kenya Devolution Support Program panel. Juliana Cherera is also the chair of the Voter Education, Partnerships and Stakeholders Engagement Committee.
